About SFMI

The Swedish Association for Medical Informatics (SFMI) is an independent organization for medical informatics. SFMI works to increase knowledge and interdisciplinary and interprofessional networking through, among other things, education, scientific meetings, member meetings and dissemination of current information. SFMI also assists SLS with advice and opinions, participates in the public debate and is a formal referral body in the subject.

SFMI addresses those who are interested in informatics, working for or within the health and care sector. SFMI is open to all professions. The association is a member of the Swedish Society of Medicine (SLS), the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) and the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).

In the field of Medical Informatics, SFMI shall

• pursue and monitor important societal issues

• promote education, training and research

• promote interest and provide advice and opinions on relevant issues

• increase knowledge, and provide access to information that is of importance

• create networking opportunities
